A snow halfpipe is very similar to a skateboard halfpipe with the only major differences being the following: A skateboard halfpipe is usually made out of wood or metal and on a flat pitch. A snow halfpipe is usually on an incline and like it sounds made of snow. Here is an example of a snow halfpipe at Blackomb Resort in Brittish Columbia. You will notice that Blackomb has their pipe on about an 17 or 18 degree pitch or slope. This allows for enough speed anywhere in the pipe. Snowboards do not have bearings and wheels like skateboards so you need to have an incline.
